Intro to Aviation Camp

Another week in June, and another great summer camp hosted by Flight Club 502! This week was all about Intro to Aviation. Campers were taught the basics of flying and aerodynamics by Flight Club’s senior members, and they also took tours of some of the awesome aviation facilities in Louisville.

Throughout the week, the kids learned about requirements to earning a private pilot certificate, aircraft components, jobs in aviation, and more. Additionally, they were given a tour of Bowman Field’s Hangar 5, where Flight Club 502 is based, and received a visit from guest speakers and club mentors, Laura Benson Jones and Captain Jim Yonts.

The camp continued with a tour of Louisville Executive Aviation and instruction on the club’s simulators. It concluded on Friday with an exciting behind the scenes look at the UPS training center and chance to sit inside a cargo plane!
