Flight Club 502 proudly recognizes Munir Abraham for completing his first solo flight on Friday, January 24, 2025. At just 16 years old, Munir has shown impressive dedication and skill in reaching this important milestone. Congratulations to Munir and his Certified Flight Instructor (CFI), Mohamud Aden! ✈️

Munir joined Flight Club 502 in November 2023 and is a recipient of the Pathways to Progress Scholarship, which supports teens in pursuing aviation training. A student at Community Montessori, Munir’s hard work and focus have quickly made him a standout member of the club.

The solo flight is a significant achievement for any aspiring pilot, marking the first time they take full control of the aircraft without an instructor onboard. Munir’s accomplishment reflects his dedication and readiness for the next stages of his training.

We also acknowledge the guidance of CFI Mohamud Aden, whose mentorship has been instrumental in Munir’s success. Mentors like Mohamud are key to preparing the next generation of aviators.

Flight Club 502 is a non-profit 501 (c)(3), based out of Bowman Field (KLOU), Louisville, KY. It is dedicated to teaching teens about leadership and success through realistic goal setting in aviation and through Next Gen/STEM education.

The organization was established in 2015 by a group of high schoolers who wanted to inspire other students to succeed while incorporating aviation and STEM subjects as a springboard for that success. Flight Club 502 is owned and operated by youth members with professional adult supervision.

We have 750 youth members, 310 kids soloed, 204 Private Pilot Licenses, 8 Instrument ratings, and counting! In the past 12 months we offered programming to 1500 youth outside our organization! In 2019, we built an RV-12 that was flown to Oshkosh in a UPS 747 aircraft to be displayed!
